JVC GZ-HM340: a Solid Mid-range Model
The GZ-HM340 from JVC is a new entry-level HD camcorder that performs like a solid mid-range model. Its performance is on par with that of last year’s GZ-HM200 from JVC, but it lacks most manual controls and its design leaves something to be desired.
Canon Vixia HV30 Remains a Quality HDV Camcorder
The 2.7-inch wide-screen LCD of Canon Vixia HV30 is kind of small and at 211,000-pixels not very high resolution, but it’s sufficient for manually focusing. The eye-level viewfinder is relatively large, but doesn’t pull out or up, and I wish it had a softer eye cup. In addition, I just had to laugh at the Catch-22 diopter control.
Canon XH A1: Excellent Camcorder for Entry-level Professionals
